Seasonal travelFor a 2026 Christmas-market trip, choose your dates before your cities. Bath finishes on 13 December, while Prague’s main markets continue to 6 January 2027. This hub links all four of our market guides: Bath, Prague, Budapest and the six-city Germany guide. The dates below come from organisers and official tourism sources checked on 21 October 2026. Our destination visits do not establish that we attended every city’s Christmas market; photographs illustrate the places rather than the 2026 events.

26 November–13 December 2026. Bath’s organiser confirms free entry and opening hours of 10:00–19:00 Monday–Wednesday, 10:00–20:00 Thursday–Saturday and 10:00–18:00 Sunday.
Choose Bath if you want to build a market stop into an England itinerary. Do not save it for Christmas week. Our Bath Christmas Market guide covers the residents’ preview distinction, practical planning and what still needs checking.
28 November 2026–6 January 2027 for the main Old Town Square and Wenceslas Square markets. Prague City Tourism lists the Wenceslas Square event for that window. Smaller neighbourhood markets have their own dates, so do not apply the January closing date to every square.
Choose Prague if your fixed dates fall after Christmas, then check the opening hours for the particular holiday. Our Prague Christmas markets guide separates the two main markets, neighbourhood dates and tree-lighting information.
Advent Bazilika: 13 November 2026–1 January 2027, according to its organiser. Vörösmarty Square is a separate market with its own timetable. Do not treat the Basilica’s closing date as a promise about every Budapest stall.
Our Budapest Christmas markets guide compares both organisers’ schedules and holiday hours. Choose the dates around the kind of visit you want: craft shopping and a New Year’s celebration need different checks.
Munich’s Marienplatz Christkindlmarkt: 20 November–24 December 2026, closed on 22 November. The city confirms the earlier opening pattern and the closure for Totensonntag. Do not assume that an opening weekend means continuous Sunday trading.
Our German Christmas markets guide covers Munich, Frankfurt, Heidelberg, Würzburg, Ulm and Bremen, with each market’s status and source. Treat any explicitly unconfirmed dates there as provisional; this hub does not turn them into confirmed bookings.
Our suggested approach is to choose one base and one additional stop reachable on your travel dates. Check actual train times before adding a second region. A list of six cities is a set of choices, not a recommendation to rush through all six.
For Bath plus a continental market, late November or early December keeps the most options in this hub available. If you are travelling after Christmas, start by checking Prague and the Basilica market in Budapest rather than assuming every market runs until New Year.
Compare the full trip cost: travel, accommodation, local transport, food and any separately ticketed activity. We have not verified a comparable 2026 food-price basket, so this page does not rank cities by an invented “cheapest market” figure.
We would leave a full evening in each chosen city rather than arriving just before closing. Keep an indoor alternative for poor weather, pack for wet pavements and recheck the organiser’s hours before each visit. A city guide’s sightseeing recommendations are separate from the market’s operating schedule.
Bath ends on 13 December 2026, well before Christmas week.
Prague’s two main markets run to 6 January 2027, and Budapest’s Advent Bazilika runs to 1 January. Check holiday hours and individual stall schedules.
No. The Marienplatz Christkindlmarkt is closed for Totensonntag, despite opening on 20 November.
Entry rules change, and they depend on your nationality — always confirm the current requirements on the official government site before you book or apply. Only use official government (.gov) portals; ignore look-alike agency sites.
