Check whether your ticket is for Madring North or South first, then stay on the matching rail line: Metro Line 8 for the South sector (Feria de Madrid station), Cercanías C-1 for the North (Valdebebas). Barajas and the hotels around IFEMA are closest; Salamanca and Chamartín are the best balance; Sol and the old centre work if you want Madrid more than the commute. The 2027 Spanish Grand Prix runs Friday 10 to Sunday 12 September 2027 at Madring, the circuit next to the IFEMA trade fair grounds, according to Formula 1's 2027 calendar. Barcelona is not on the 2027 calendar. We spent 4 days in Madrid at the end of June 2022, years before the circuit existed, so the race details below come from Madring and Formula 1.
Formula 1's 2027 calendar lists the Spanish Grand Prix at round 15, 10 to 12 September, the week after Monza. It is the circuit's second edition. Madring reported 352,618 cumulative attendances at the first race (11 to 13 September 2026), with 128,183 on the Sunday, and said eight in ten fans arrived by public transport: about 168,000 Metro journeys and 107,000 Cercanías journeys over the three days.
Madring's access page (address: Avenida del Partenón 5) sets out the rules that shape where you should stay:
• Two sectors, no crossing inside. The circuit is split into North and South, and you must enter by the sector on your ticket.
• South sector: Metro. Feria de Madrid station on Line 8 is the main stop; Mar de Cristal (Lines 4 and 8), Canillas and San Lorenzo (Line 4) are alternatives. Line 8 runs from Nuevos Ministerios out past IFEMA to the airport.
• North sector: Cercanías. Valdebebas station on line C-1 is the main stop and closest to the North Fan Zone. From Atocha, Recoletos or Nuevos Ministerios, Madring says to change at Chamartín.
• Shuttles and buses: shuttles from Plaza de Castilla, Canillejas, Avenida de América and the Metropolitano stadium, plus EMT bus routes to both sectors.
• No parking on site, and private vehicles are not allowed in the circuit area. Taxi and ride-hail drop-off areas are provided.

1. Barajas and the IFEMA hotels. The old village of Barajas and the business hotels around Campo de las Naciones and the airport are on or near Line 8, a few stops from Feria de Madrid. Best for South-sector tickets and late flights. Price level: mid-range business hotels in normal weeks. The catch: little character, few places to eat out at night, and these are the first rooms to go on race weekend because they are also the IFEMA trade-fair hotels.
2. Chamartín. The district around Chamartín station and Plaza de Castilla, on the north side of the city. Chamartín is the change point for C-1 to Valdebebas (North sector) and Plaza de Castilla had a race shuttle, so it suits North tickets. Mostly modern hotels along the Castellana. The catch: it is a business district, and you will ride into the centre for dinner.
3. Salamanca and Nuevos Ministerios. Upmarket Salamanca and the Castellana hotels around Nuevos Ministerios, where Line 8 starts, give a one-line ride to the South sector and a C-1 connection for the North, with good restaurants on the doorstep. Price level: upper-mid to high. The catch: price. Our where to stay in Madrid guide covers Salamanca alongside the central barrios.
4. Sol and the old centre. Sol, Barrio de las Letras, La Latina and Malasaña are where you want to be for evenings, tapas and late dinners. Expect a change of line each way (to Line 8 at Nuevos Ministerios, or to C-1), so allow more time. The catch: the longest commute of the four and noisy streets at night. See what to eat in Madrid for the evenings.
Madring said tickets for 2027 were already on sale when we checked in October 2026. Pre-race coverage in 2026 reported the first edition as sold out.
We found no published data on hotel sell-out timing, so this is general advice: the hotels around IFEMA are the scarce ones, and rates across Madrid rise for a weekend that adds about 120,000 people a day. Book a free-cancellation rate once you know your sector, because North or South decides which neighbourhood is actually closest.
Early September is still summer in Madrid; see best time to visit Spain. If you want to add days, our how many days in Madrid and day trips from Madrid guides help plan them.

Match the line to the sector. South: Line 8 to Feria de Madrid. North: C-1 to Valdebebas. Getting this wrong means a long walk round the outside, since you cannot cross between sectors inside.
Have a backup station. If Feria de Madrid is packed, Mar de Cristal on Lines 4 and 8 is listed by Madring as an alternative for the South side.
Do not drive. There is no on-site parking. Taxis and ride-hail use designated zones, which is fine for a one-off trip but slow after the race.
Airport day. Line 8 links the airport with Nuevos Ministerios, passing IFEMA, so you can go from your flight to the South sector without crossing the city. Our Madrid guide covers the rest of the city.
Friday 10 to Sunday 12 September 2027 at Madring in Madrid, according to Formula 1's 2027 calendar. Barcelona is not on the 2027 calendar.
Feria de Madrid on Metro Line 8 for the South sector. For the North sector, use Valdebebas on Cercanías line C-1.
No. Madring says there is no on-site parking and private vehicles are not permitted in the circuit area.
Not from inside the circuit. You must use the entrance for the sector on your ticket, so pick a hotel on the rail line that serves it.
