When is the Brisbane 2032 Olympics, and where will events be held?

By · Published · Last updated

The Brisbane 2032 Olympics run from 23 July to 8 August 2032, and the Paralympics are reported for 24 August to 5 September. The Games spread well beyond Brisbane: the Gold Coast, Sunshine Coast, Townsville, Cairns and other Queensland towns all host events, and Sydney is listed for early football. A new stadium of about 63,000 seats is planned at Victoria Park for the ceremonies and athletics. We found no ticket dates. We haven't been to Brisbane, but we were in Townsville and Cairns in February 2023, and this page's photo comes from nearby Magnetic Island.

The new stadium

Queensland dropped plans to rebuild the Gabba in favour of a new stadium at Victoria Park. Reports give about 63,000 seats, with an estimated A$3.785 billion cost, and federal environmental approval was reported in May 2026, although opponents object to the loss of parkland and other applications remained under review.

The Gabba, at about 37,000, is listed as a potential cricket venue.

Planning a trip

It's early, but a few things already follow from the map and the calendar.

• Queensland is big. Brisbane to Cairns or Townsville is a flight, so sports spread that way mean a multi-stop trip.

• It's winter. July and August are the cooler, drier season in Queensland, which is good for visiting the tropical north. Our best time to visit Australia guide covers the seasons.

• Check entry early. Most visitors need an ETA or visa. See our Australia ETA guide.

• Don't pay for 2032 tickets yet. We found no official sale dates or prices as of 1 November 2026, so wait for the organising committee.

If you want to see Australia sooner, the Rugby World Cup in 2027 uses Brisbane too.
