Seasonal travelVenice Carnival runs 23 January to 9 February 2027, as published by the official organiser. Choose those dates for Carnival; choose a different winter week if the festival is not your priority. We visited Venice 31 July–3 August 2023, so this is an official-source planning guide, not a first-hand winter or Carnival review. Checked 21 October 2026.

The organiser’s site confirms the overall 23 January–9 February window. It does not follow that every procession, performance or costume event happens every day. We have not verified a complete 2027 day-by-day programme, so specific performance times are not listed here.
Check each event’s own page for its date, venue and admission arrangements. A paid ball or dinner show is a separate purchase; an accommodation package is not automatically an official event ticket. Start from the organiser’s site when following ticket links.
Our suggestion is to choose one must-see event first, then book the nights around it. If your main interest is walking through Venice and photographing the city, leave time outside the busiest central gathering points.
Use our Venice guide to group nearby sights, then choose an indoor alternative for each day. A short winter trip works better with one main reservation per day than with several tightly timed bookings across the city.
Pack a warm layer, waterproof outerwear and shoes with good grip. Keep the bag light enough for bridges and walking. Check the forecast near departure rather than treating a seasonal description as a prediction for Carnival week.
If a quiet stay matters more than the festival, compare dates outside the published Carnival window. We do not promise that another winter week will be empty or cheaper: check actual accommodation availability and opening hours.
Venice’s municipal visitor information directs travellers to the city’s tide monitoring and forecast centre for high-water information. Check that forecast during your stay, along with local instructions about affected routes.
An acqua alta forecast is not the same thing as a rain forecast. Avoid assuming that every street floods, or that a dry sky means your planned walking route is unaffected. Ask your accommodation about the approach to its entrance and leave time to change your route.
The official city page is linked below. We do not predict a flood for Carnival 2027 or use a historical photograph as evidence of conditions on your travel dates.
Check current waterbus timetables for any island trip and allow margin before a fixed event or train. Our suggested rhythm is to keep the central-city day flexible and put a longer excursion on a separate day.
Venice’s day-visitor access contribution is a separate scheme from Carnival tickets and the overnight accommodation tax. Our Venice entry-fee guide explains the distinction, but do not carry a previous year’s charging calendar into 2027. Consult the city’s official portal for your date and circumstances.
Before paying for non-refundable travel, recheck the organiser’s current programme and any event-specific entry conditions. Our summer photographs illustrate the destination; they do not depict the 2027 Carnival.
The official organiser publishes 23 January–9 February 2027.
Do not assume it does. Check each event for its own admission and ticket requirements; paid balls and dinner shows are separate bookings.
Use the Comune di Venezia tide monitoring and forecast centre, and follow local instructions for affected routes.
Entry rules change, and they depend on your nationality — always confirm the current requirements on the official government site before you book or apply. Only use official government (.gov) portals; ignore look-alike agency sites.
