Transit & logisticsThe cheapest way from Incheon Airport to Seoul is the AREX All-Stop train: about 4,750 won from Terminal 1 and 5,350 won from Terminal 2 to Seoul Station with a T-money card, in about an hour. The non-stop AREX Express saves 15 minutes for a published 13,000 won, airport limousine buses cost about 17,000 won and drop you near your hotel in Myeongdong, Hongdae or Gangnam, and a regular taxi runs roughly 65,000 to 90,000 won with tolls. Which one is best depends on where you are staying, how much luggage you have and what time you land.

The Airport Railroad (AREX) runs two services on the same line into Seoul Station, which connects to subway Lines 1 and 4 and the Gyeongui-Jungang line.
• AREX Express (직통열차): non-stop to Seoul Station in about 43 minutes from Terminal 1 and 51 minutes from Terminal 2. Every passenger gets an assigned seat and there is luggage space at the end of each car. The published adult fare in autumn 2026 is 13,000 won (children 9,500 won), and online resellers routinely sell it for about 11,000 to 11,600 won. Trains run roughly every 30 to 50 minutes, about 26 a day in each direction, from about 05:20 to just before 23:00 from Terminal 1.
• AREX All-Stop (일반열차): a commuter train calling at Gimpo Airport, Digital Media City, Hongik University (Hongdae) and Gongdeok on the way, taking about 59 minutes from Terminal 1 and 66 minutes from Terminal 2. It costs about 4,750 won (T1) or 5,350 won (T2) to Seoul Station with a transit card, runs every 5 to 10 minutes and keeps going until around midnight.
Fares on this line have been reported differently by different sites, and the express discount has changed several times since 2023, so check the price on the AREX ticket machines or the official site before you buy. Unless you have heavy bags or arrive at rush hour, the All-Stop is the better value, and it is the more direct option for Hongdae.
Airport buses are the easiest choice with big suitcases: the driver loads them underneath and many routes stop outside or near major hotels. Fares on the main Seoul routes were about 17,000 won (some 16,000 to 18,000 won) one way in 2026, and the ride takes about 70 to 100 minutes depending on traffic.
• Myeongdong / Namdaemun: routes 6015 and 6001 (6001 continues toward Dongdaemun).
• Hongdae / Sinchon: route 6002, which then continues through Jongno toward Dongdaemun.
• Gangnam, COEX, Jamsil: several routes serve the area south of the river, and the right number depends on which stop is closest to your hotel. Use the route search on the Incheon Airport website to match a bus to your address.
Ticketing changed in 2026. Since 5 March 2026, passengers at Terminal 2 must buy a ticket before boarding at the B1 counter or a ticket machine; you can no longer pay on the bus. At Terminal 1 some routes still take on-board payment, but buying at the counter on the arrivals floor is the safe default. Foreign cards are usually accepted, though not always.
A regular taxi from the rank outside arrivals to central Seoul (Myeongdong, City Hall, Jongno) costs roughly 65,000 to 80,000 won on the meter including expressway tolls, and Gangnam or COEX roughly 75,000 to 90,000 won. The ride takes about an hour without traffic. Tolls are added to the fare, so expect them on the receipt.
Late-night surcharge: Seoul-registered taxis add 20% from 22:00 to 23:00 and from 02:00 to 04:00, and 40% between 23:00 and 02:00. Incheon-registered taxis set their own rules, so ask or check the meter. Deluxe (black) taxis cost more but have historically had no night surcharge.
International Taxi (English-speaking drivers) uses fixed zone fares that include tolls and must be booked through its official counter or site. Ride-hailing through Kakao T also works with a foreign card in most cases. Ignore anyone in the arrivals hall offering a ride; use the marked taxi rank or a booked service.
Buy a T-money card at a convenience store in the arrivals hall (GS25, CU or 7-Eleven) or at a station machine and top it up with cash. It works on the AREX All-Stop, the subway, city buses and most taxis, and it is the card you need for the airport leg. Our South Korea T-money and subway guide explains how to buy and reload it.
The Climate Card tourist pass is a Seoul-only unlimited ride pass, and Incheon Airport is in Incheon, outside the area it covers. You cannot use it to board at the airport, and neither T-money nor the Climate Card is valid on the AREX Express, which needs its own ticket. Buy the Climate Card once you are in the city if your Seoul days justify it.
The last AREX Express leaves the airport just before 23:00 and the last All-Stop around midnight, so a flight landing after about 22:30 can miss both once you clear immigration and baggage.
After that, night buses run between roughly 22:40 and 06:00. Routes N6000, N6001 and N6002 take cards and cash and serve central Seoul, including Seoul Station, while N6701 (Mapo, Seoul Station, DDP) and N6703 (Gangnam, COEX, Jamsil) have to be booked in the T-money GO app. Late-night frequencies were increased in 2024, but there are still only a handful of departures per route, so check the next departure as soon as you land.
If you arrive between about 01:00 and 05:00, a taxi with the 20 to 40% night surcharge or a booked transfer is the practical choice. Some travellers sleep in the airport and take the first train at about 05:20 instead.
• Staying in Hongdae: the AREX All-Stop straight to Hongik University station.
• Staying near Seoul Station, Myeongdong or City Hall: the All-Stop or Express to Seoul Station, then one subway stop or a short taxi; or bus 6015/6001 if you have heavy luggage.
• Staying in Gangnam or Jamsil: a limousine bus, which avoids changing trains across the city with bags.
• Group of three or four, or a night arrival: a taxi can cost about the same per person as the bus.

The All-Stop train costs about 4,750 won from Terminal 1 and 5,350 won from Terminal 2 with a T-money card. The non-stop Express has a published fare of 13,000 won in 2026, often sold for about 11,000 to 11,600 won online.
Only if you value an assigned seat and luggage space. It saves about 15 minutes over the All-Stop to Seoul Station but costs more than twice as much, and it does not stop at Hongdae.
Roughly 65,000 to 80,000 won including tolls in daytime traffic. Seoul taxis add 20% from 22:00 to 23:00 and 02:00 to 04:00, and 40% between 23:00 and 02:00.
No. Incheon Airport is outside the Seoul area the Climate Card covers, so use T-money or a single ticket on the All-Stop train, and buy a separate ticket for the Express.
Night buses N6000, N6001 and N6002 run to central Seoul between about 22:40 and 06:00 and take cards and cash; N6701 and N6703 must be booked in the T-money GO app. Otherwise take a taxi with the night surcharge.
Entry rules change, and they depend on your nationality — always confirm the current requirements on the official government site before you book or apply. Only use official government (.gov) portals; ignore look-alike agency sites.
