Each country's budget and mid-range band is the one published in our daily travel budget by country, set from named 2025 and 2026 cost sources. They are typical ranges for one person, not receipts from our own trip: our route data records where we went and for how long, not what we spent.
The split into accommodation, food, transport, sights and extras is approximate. On a budget we put about 35% of the day into the bed; at mid-range about 45%, because the room is where the extra money goes. Flight ranges appear only where one of our trip cost articles publishes a fare for that route.
It multiplies a published daily budget range for the country by your days and travellers, splits each day into accommodation, food, local transport, sights and extras, and adds a return flight range where one is published.
From our daily travel budget by country article, which sets each band from named 2025 and 2026 cost sources such as Budget Your Trip, Hostelz and Viatravelers. They are typical ranges, not what we spent.
Only if you tick the flight box. Flight ranges come from our trip cost articles for Japan, South Korea, Italy, Thailand, Vietnam and Bali; other countries show the ground cost only.
