**The Sydney leg of the United Cup runs from 2 to 10 January 2027 at Ken Rosewall Arena, Sydney Olympic Park, according to the organiser, with the semi-finals on 9 January and the final on 10 January. Stay at Sydney Olympic Park to walk to your seat, Rhodes for restaurants, or Parramatta for a bigger choice of hotels.** The hotel search above opens on the final weekend, Friday 8 to Monday 11 January 2027. We were in Sydney from 17 to 19 February 2023. That record shows the city and the dates, so the tournament detail below comes from the organiser and the park authority.

## The tournament: dates and format

**Official dates,** from unitedcup.com: Sydney's group stage runs Saturday 2 to Wednesday 6 January 2027, then quarter-finals on 7 and 8 January, semi-finals on 9 January and the final on Sunday 10 January. Listings that say 1 to 10 January include Perth's opening day. Perth co-hosts at RAC Arena, so check which city each knockout session you want is in before you buy.

It is a mixed team event on hard courts with 18 teams. Each session is three matches: men's, women's and mixed. Ken Rosewall Arena has a permanent roof. Session times and team allocations were not on the pages we could read, so check unitedcup.com.

## Tickets

Tickets for 2027 were on sale when we checked, through Ticketmaster for Sydney and Ticketek for Perth, as session tickets and a Premium Experience. We could not find prices, so check Ticketmaster directly.

## Getting to Ken Rosewall Arena

Trains run to **Olympic Park** via Lidcombe on the T7 shuttle, and the arena is a short walk from the station, per Sydney Olympic Park's event page.

**Check two things before you travel.** In 2026 the event ticket included trains, metro and light rail, and trackwork replaced trains with buses on 10 and 11 January 2026. Neither inclusive travel nor trackwork is confirmed for 2027, so read your ticket conditions and check Transport NSW.

Bus 526 runs from Strathfield to Rhodes via the park, per the park authority.

**From the airport,** take the T8 to Central, then a train to Lidcombe and the T7. That is roughly 60 to 75 minutes by our estimate, so check a journey planner. Our [Sydney airport guide](https://clevertourists.com/resources/sydney-airport-to-city-guide) covers the first leg.

## Where to stay, ranked by travel time to the arena

The ranking is our judgement, based on time to the venue. All five times are our own estimates, so check them in a journey planner, including holiday timetables.

**1. Sydney Olympic Park (roughly 10 minutes or less on foot).** On-site hotels, and no transit needed. **The catch:** dull at night, with little nearby.

**2. Rhodes (roughly 15 to 20 minutes on bus 526).** Waterfront restaurants, and usually good value. **The catch:** bus only, so check the holiday timetable.

**3. Strathfield (roughly 20 minutes).** A main-line hub with Korean food. **The catch:** mostly budget hotels.

**4. Parramatta (roughly 25 to 30 minutes).** A bigger choice of hotels, plus the river and food. **The catch:** a change at Lidcombe.

**5. Sydney CBD (roughly 40 to 50 minutes).** The harbour holiday. **The catch:** New Year hotel peak prices, and a long way out from the tennis.

## When to book

We found no sourced hotel prices. Early January is holiday season, especially around New Year's Eve, so book early. If you are arriving for the [Sydney fireworks](https://clevertourists.com/resources/sydney-new-years-eve-fireworks-2026-best-spots-tickets), a night or two in the CBD before moving out west can make sense, since the group stage starts on 2 January.

From here the [Australian Open](https://clevertourists.com/resources/where-to-stay-for-the-australian-open) is the natural next stop: Opening Week starts in Melbourne on 11 January, the day after the United Cup final. Expect hot weather, and see [best time to visit Australia](https://clevertourists.com/resources/best-time-to-visit-australia) for the season.
