**The overnight bus from Göreme is the best option for most people: about 9.5 to 10 hours, roughly $15 to $28 (about ₺650 to ₺1,200 (≈ $13.0–24)) one way in 2026 listings, leaving in the evening and arriving early the next morning.** There is no direct flight between Cappadocia and Pamukkale: flying means Kayseri or Nevşehir to Istanbul, then Istanbul to Denizli Çardak, which eats most of a day and costs far more. Driving is about 500 km, a long full day. We were in Göreme from 31 October to 5 November 2023, after 4 nights in Ankara, and went on to Pamukkale for 3 nights before 5 in Selçuk, so this is the leg between the two halves of our [Turkey route](https://clevertourists.com/resources/turkey-itinerary-our-33-day-route-istanbul-cappadocia-pamukkale-ephesus).

## Option 1: the night bus from Göreme (best for most)

The main operator on this leg is **Nevşehir Seyahat**, and booking sites also list **FlixBus**-sold coaches on the route. Aggregator listings in 2026 show an evening departure from **Göreme otogar** (the small bus station in the middle of the village) around **20:00 to 20:30**, arriving around **06:00 to 06:30**, roughly **9.5 to 10 hours** for about 500 km.

Fares on 12Go and Omio ranged from roughly **$15 to $28** one way depending on date and seller. Turkish bus fares rise several times a year with inflation, so treat that as a guide and check the operator on the day you book.

• Some services start from **Nevşehir otogar** rather than Göreme; the company normally runs a free *servis* minibus from Göreme to connect. Check which terminal your ticket names.

• Many buses end at **Denizli otogar**, not Pamukkale village. Ask whether your ticket includes the *servis* to Pamukkale, or use the public minibus described below.

• Coaches are typically 2+1 seats with an attendant serving tea and snacks, and stop at roadside service areas through the night.

The night bus saves a hotel night and a full daytime of travel, which is the main reason it wins here. The trade-off is a broken night's sleep and an early, tired arrival.

## Option 2: daytime bus via Denizli

If you do not want to travel overnight, look for daytime departures from **Nevşehir otogar** to **Denizli otogar** on Turkish booking sites such as obilet or the operator's own site. Daytime services are fewer and some route through Konya, so check the stated arrival time before booking.

It is still a 9 to 10 hour day on the road, so it only makes sense if you sleep badly on buses and do not mind losing the whole day. You arrive in Denizli in the evening and then need the minibus to Pamukkale.

## Denizli bus station to Pamukkale

**Denizli otogar** is the regional hub, about 20 km from the travertines. Public minibuses (*dolmuş*) to Pamukkale leave from the **lower level** of the bus station, reached by escalator, running roughly every 15 to 20 minutes through the day, according to Turkey Travel Planner's guide (updated July 2025). The ride takes about **20 to 30 minutes** and you pay the driver in lira cash.

The minibus stops on the main street of Pamukkale village at the foot of the travertines, a short walk from the **south (town) entrance**. If you want the **North Entrance** near the Hierapolis necropolis, stay on and ask the driver. Our [Pamukkale guide](https://clevertourists.com/resources/pamukkale-day-trip-travertines-hierapolis-tickets-guide) explains which gate to use and how the ticket works.

If you arrive around 6am, minibuses may not be running yet. Wait in the terminal tea shops until they start rather than taking an overpriced taxi from the touts at the exit.

## Option 3: flying via Istanbul

There is **no direct flight** between Cappadocia's airports, **Kayseri (ASR)** and **Nevşehir Kapadokya (NAV)**, and **Denizli Çardak (DNZ)**, the airport for Pamukkale. Denizli's scheduled flights are to Istanbul, with Turkish Airlines to Istanbul Airport and AJet and Pegasus to Sabiha Gökçen, so you would need two flights with a connection in Istanbul.

Add the 40 to 75 minute transfer from Göreme to the airport, a connection, and then the drive from Çardak, which is about 65 km from Denizli city and further from Pamukkale. Even with good connections this is most of a day and two airfares. It only makes sense if you are short on time and cannot sleep on buses, or are using a multi-city ticket anyway.

## Option 4: driving

It is roughly **500 km**, about **6.5 to 7.5 hours** of driving with breaks, via Aksaray and Konya or via Afyonkarahisar, on mostly good divided highways. A one-way rental from Cappadocia to Denizli usually carries a drop-off fee.

Driving makes sense if you want to stop at places along the way, such as Konya for the Mevlana Museum, or continue around the Aegean by car. For a straight transfer, the night bus is cheaper and saves a day.

## Tips for the Cappadocia to Pamukkale leg

• **Balloon morning:** do not book a balloon flight for the morning after the night bus would leave. Keep your last Göreme morning free in case a flight is cancelled and needs rebooking; see our [balloon cancellation guide](https://clevertourists.com/resources/cappadocia-hot-air-balloon-cancelled-weather-booking-guide).

• **How long in Cappadocia first:** two or three nights is the usual answer; see [how many days in Cappadocia](https://clevertourists.com/resources/how-many-days-in-cappadocia).

• **Book a day or two ahead** in summer and around Turkish holidays, when the single nightly bus can sell out. Outside peak season a same-day ticket at the Göreme office is often possible.

• **Plan Pamukkale's first day lightly.** Arriving at dawn, many people drop bags at their hotel and visit the travertines late afternoon for sunset.

• **Onward:** from Denizli, trains and buses run on to Selçuk for Ephesus; see our [Ephesus tickets guide](https://clevertourists.com/resources/ephesus-tickets-terrace-houses-from-selcuk-guide).
